About the Team Rex Neuro-Oncology Research Fund

More than 80,000 people are diagnosed with brain and central nervous system tumors in the United States annually. These devastating tumors may be benign or cancerous and affect all age groups ranging from infants to elderly adults. Although tremendous strides have been made in the management of central nervous system tumors over the last decade, only about a third of patients with cancerous brain tumors are alive 5 years following their diagnosis.  In addition, management of these tumors may be associated with significant side effects that adversely impact the daily life of long-term brain tumor survivors.

The Team Rex Neuro-Oncology Research Fund at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center supports vital research and clinical trials developed to revolutionize the management of central nervous system tumors with the goal of both improving survival and decreasing side effects of patients treated for these tumors.  The fund honors Rob Rex’s legacy and explicitly stated the goal of helping future patients.

About the Four Lions Foundation

The Four Lions Foundation is an organization formed by the Rex Family to honor Rob Rex’s legacy. Rob had chosen the name Four Lions (a tribute to “the best last name” and his four children). He planned to use it for a future business endeavor and already had logos designed. He loved the name so it seemed fitting for a foundation in his honor. The purpose of the Four Lions Foundation is to improve lives and positively impact the community. The Four Lions Foundation will honor Rob and his legacy while continuing to make the world a better place.

The Four Lions Foundation was officially founded in 2021 and was created as a separate corporate entity, governed by a Board of Directors made up of Rob’s wife, 2 oldest children, sister, and brother-in-law. It is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Therefore, contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible.

The Four Lions Foundation is 100% volunteer-run, therefore, 100% of net proceeds raised this year will go to The Team Rex Neuro-Oncology Research Fund at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.
